About me
Hello Academic Writer,
My name is Dr Anne Galliot, and I am your Academic Angel.
I have a Doctorate in English Studies from the Université Paris 7 (France), and over 15 years’ experience in supporting academic research and researchers.
Since starting Academic Angel in 2020, I have worked with Lancaster University, the University of Westminster and Anglia Ruskins University among others, with researchers in Management, Law, Science and Technology, Mathematics, and more.
Before that, I worked at the University of Brighton for 14 years, developing services to support academic research. I coached and mentored academic staff, helping them define and achieve their research ambitions. I assisted with applications for Research funding to major funders such as UKRI (UK Research and Innovation), Art Council and Wellcome Trust. I facilitated a range of research workshops, and a writing group for students.
My ‘intellectual home’ is in the Arts, Design, Media and Humanities, and I have in-depth understanding of the challenges faced by practice-based/led/focused researchers. I have also worked with academics and students from across the disciplines, from social sciences to health, physiotherapy to mathematics.
As a French national, I have personal experience of the challenges of writing in a foreign language, and, in my previous writing group, supported MA and PhD students with English as a second language.
